Inspired by the Bear Flag Revolt of 1846; the bear depicted on the flag, Monarch, was a symbol of great strength and independence, who lived to be 22 years old and remains stuffed in the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park today.
The single red star was inspired by the Lone Star State themselves, Texas, meant to represent freedom and the fact California too became a state without ever being a territory.
We love the idea of strength and freedom this design depicts, as we want all animals to live happy and free!
